Hi,

I am looking for relatives of Mary McLean (b. 1887 Sligo), who might have information on Mary's family in New York.

Mary married Thomas O'Connor in the Sacred Heart church in Manhattan on 10/9/1916. As far as I know they had two children - Thomas (b. 1920) and Mary (b. 1924).

Mary McLean was one of eight children born to Martin McLean and Winifred ('Winnie') Boyle. Martin and Winnie married in Drumcliff Church on 25/2/1877.  The family is listed in the 1901 and 1911 censuses as living in Carrigeens (Carrigans), Sligo.

Many thanks,

Clive

  • Hi Jim,

Thank you very much for that - it is the best fit yet for Thomas and Mary.  I had found other O'Connor families in New York in the censuses with similar first names, but slightly different dates etc.  Don't know how I missed this one.  As I didn't know which was correct, I was hoping that someone on the Ireland side of the McLean family might have some information. The O'Connor side lost contact with Thomas many years ago.

Thanks again Jim, another step closer :-)

  • Hello; I know this won't be a direct link, but possibly related. Tombstones of William McLean and his brother list Collones, Drumcliff, Sligo as birth place. They emigrated much earlier, William died in 1887. They lived in New York, Ossining NY and Rhode Island. William is my Grandmother's Grandfather. I haven't done much research on them yet but have a fair amount if it would be helpful. Let me know. Mary Lou Ni Maire
