Greetings, my name is Margaret Harris, maiden name is Long.  I have traced my roots to Ardmayle, Tipperary Ireland.

My 1st great grandfather was Richard Edward Long, born October 4th, 1824 in Tipperary Town, Tipperary Ireland. He died on July 1, 1901 in Chippawa, Ontario Canada

His father was Edward Thomas Long, born April 20, 1799 in Longfield House, Ardmayle Cashel, Tipperary Ireland.  He died on April 12, 1875 in Wisconsin in the US.

I was born and raised in Kingsville, Ontario the youngest daughter of Harold Augustine Long.  Harold was the son of William Gladstone Long who was the son of Richard.  I currently reside in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada.

My husband, his sister and I are visiting Ireland in September and plan to visit Tipperary.  I hope to be able to connect with the Long family there to establish a connection with our Irish family.

Please let me know if anyone has any information to assist with my search.

    We have a parish liaison who covers Ardmayle and another parish liaison who covers Tipperary town. Since the Longs were last in Tipperary town, I will alert that parish liasion.

  • Hi Margaret.

    If you google Long's Longfield House, there is material done by the National University of Ireland Galway.

    Charles Bianconi it would appear bought their house and lands.

    The Bianconi family were ther until recent times.

    The house and lands still there.

    There are a few Longs still in the are , they may be related to you, as its a scarce name.
