In 1864,  Mary Dudley (W) nee Griffin married John Keaty (W) (C. 1821 to 1867) in this Church.

The name has been Keaty not Keating; although I suspect it might have been Keating on some records.

The marriage certificate states that Mary was the daughter of James Griffin a Nailor? in America. Mary had children from the previous marriage - one was Michael and another Annie and they emigrated to the States.

John Keaty was the son of William Keaty who died before this 1864 marriage.

My Great Grandfather William Keaty was baptised there also.

He emigrated to Australia and arrived sometime in the early 1880s.

I have letters from Mary Keaty (Dudley, Griffin) up to the end of the 1890s but cannot find her death. In the letters she mentions living in Lisgibbon, Currana and  Raheen and the name Pat. Keogh.

My sister and I will be visiting the area around Thursday June 9 2016 and would be interested if anyone has any information or are descendants.

  • Hi Robyn

    There are 15 death/burial records for Mary Griffin 1900 + - 10 years on www.rootsireland.ie in Tipperary

There are none for Keaty or Dudley. There are none from Bansha & Kilmoyler is not in the parish list

If you can give an approximate birth year for her I'll post the possible ones.
