Coming to Borrisokane for the first time week of Aug 15/16 to find out as much as I can about my Family. Luke Sr is my GG Grandfather who married Elizabeth Bollard (Terryglass). With one child by 1832, the moved to Canada with, what I have been told was all the inlaws emigrated with them.

Hoping to find birth / death recordsfor Luke's parents, grandparents, siblings etc.

Also seeking accomodation or just a spot to pitch my tent for about 5 days. Was looking for a hostel but it seems the closest I have found is Django's in Cloughjordan.

  • Thank you for your help, Clare,

I may be able to camp out in Ballinderry during my visit. Getting there and back from either Cloughjordan or Nenagh is still a challenge.

  • Hi Michelle

I have just sent you an email - probably best to rent a car as it will be the easiest way to get around

    Best wishes

  • Thank you Clare,

I have found Donal Ryan Car & Van Hires and can rent one in Nenagh, drive to Ballinderry and set up camp. From there, I am a stone's throw from Terryglass and Borrisokane and can certainly do research in Nenagh as I have hear there are more records there than likely both the other towns put together. But I am always open to correction on that.

    Many Blessings,

    Michelle

  • Hello Mia,

Yes, I have contacted Sean there and he advises there are many Hogans within a few miles of the Park. Four more weeks and I am on my way.

  • Time is ticking down and last week, I found a picture of my Great Great GrandMother, Elizabeth (Eliza (Bollard) Hogan). It was a picture of her Son (William) and his Family.

In addition, I unravelled the mystery of why GGGranddad, Luke Sr. was buried with another family in Ottawa. He was buried in the Cuddie Family plot and his daughter, Jane, married a Cuddie.

Just a week or so away and my Heart is already there.

    Many Blessings to All,
