I am researching part my wife's family history. She had a sister, Mary Theresa Gleeson 1952-2001, who was adopted (offically?) by Margaret (Maggie) Doyle nee O'Rourke 1897-1984 and her brother Thomas O'Rourke 1903-1986 both of Borrisoleigh at an early age. I cannot find any reference anywhere to Maggie Doyle's husband so it would be interesting to find out who he was and whether he was still alive at the time of the adoption.
Mary Theresa's name was changed to Marian Doyle and my wife and I are interested in finding out about Marian's life with her adopted family. It's our understanding that the O'Rourke's ran the post office in Borrisoleigh. The family lived at 8 Chapel Street, Borrisoleigh.
We know that Marian, Maggie and Thomas are buried in Ileigh cemetery, Borrisoleigh (A site we have visited a few times to pay our respects.)
