  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

You will have some difficulty with a search this early as civil or state registration does not begin until 1864. Before this you will be dependent on parish records and these start at different times in different parishes. Few parishes have a stock of records that pre-date 1800 and those that do are more likely to be in urban centres rather than rural areas.

I had a look but could not locate a baptism early enough for Jeremiah nor a marriage record for the couple. Do you think they could have married in Canada or is there any evidence to suggest they married in Ireland and emigrated later?

The Tithe Applotment Books for Tipperary date between the late 1820s and early 1830s and record two instances for a Jeremiah in the parish of Kilvolane though it would be difficult to say if these references are to Jeremiah's father for example.

Do you think you have exhausted all records your side, obituaries, graves and newspapers for example?

    Best wishes
