Hi, My Ggrandparents Thomas and Brigida Ryan are from Clonganhue. Thomas was baptised in the Cappawhite Catholic Church on 9 June 1839.  He had four siblings: Catherine, Patrick, Michael and Mary all baptised in the Cappawhite Church. I have found the baptismal index records for all of them. Thomas  married Brigida Ryan on 29 January at the Catholic Church in Solohead.  Thomas father, also Thomas, married Margaret Deer at the Cappwhite Church on 5 May 1829. His son Thomas and Brigida emigrated to Petone, New Zealand in 1876.  They had fifteen children, two of whom were All Blacks. They have many descendants who have dispersed all over the world including Australia. USA, and back to Ireland. A family history was produced in1994 "From Tipperary to Petone - The Ryan Story 1876-1994" available on Lulu.com.  Love to hear from anyone with related stories. Regards, Dave Ross.  P.S. my mother was a Mavis Ryan.

  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Thanks for adding the above information, it's great to hear about a family who have dispersed so far. Feel free to add any details you have to our new Chronicles page as this begins an effort to record everyone who ever lived in each parish in Ireland, the buildings they lived in and the events that happened.
