Happy to share information on the MAX family of Moycarky / Makarky / Ballytarsna / Maxfort. I have them back to Adam, b1666.

  • The earliest ancestors so far in the Moycarky parish is William Coffee. He had at least one son born in Coolkip, John Coffee in 1810. John married Mary Brennan who were in Ash Hill. John and Mary had two boys born in Ireland: James and Patrick. They all ended up in NJ around 1850.

Do you have any of these Brennans and Coffees in your MAX family?

  • Hello

I have been doing some work for my husband on the Max family and there was an unnamed Brennan who married Adam Max about 1750. Sorry that I cannot help more.

  • Max Family

    Hi

My greatgrandfather was James Max and he was a blacksmith (source Marriage certificate of my grandfather Richard Max marrying Elizabeth Harris in 1907.

We think that he may have been the blacksmith in Ballinure.

My grandfather worked for Harry Langley and his wife Maud, daughter of John Max of Maxfort. My grandfather, Richard was thought to be a cousin of Maud. But we cannot make the connection. My mother Johanna Max was born in the gatehouse at Archerstown.

    Please can you help?

    Best wishes

  • Hi Richard, I'm afraid my Maxes are a lot further back than that: 1666-late 1700s when Prudence Max married my gt gt  grandfather. I'll get back to you over the next few days with what I've got.
