Hi

I think I have successfully traced my 2nd great grandfather to his trip from Ireland (although I am not positive).  Here is the information I have.

I believe James Joseph Kennedy (b abt Dec 1862) married Anne Higgins on Feb 19 1885 in Tipperary.  The priest is listed as Edmund OLeary from Roscrea Church. I found a civil marriage record with the two names and date listed.  His address listed as Carrig Birr and hers is listed as Coolquin.  Fathers are listed as James Kennedy and Frederick Higgins respectively, Witnesses listed as James Day and Maryanne White.

I believe Anne born abt 1869 (not sure of date based on census info being only record and they are inconsistent with DOB) and was possibly pregnant when married as I have located a birth record in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA on Jun 23 1885 (Mary Ceclia Kennedy).

I found a record of transport for James Joseph (arrived) on Mar 5 1885 , place of last residence, Tipperary on ship Scythia.  I found another record for Annie kennedy  with same ship/trip information.  Departure port for both is Liverpool & Queenstowne

I am hoping to find information about their family in Ireland and birth record info.  I found one record of Baptism for a James Kennedy on Sep 1 1864 in Clara, County Offaly where parents listed as James Kennedy and M Cassels but i cannot be sure it is the same person.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thank you

Ron Kennedy

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Our Roscrea parish liaison has been on the message boards quite a bit over the last two weeks. It is after midnight in Ireland so I will send him an e-mail to make sure he is aware of your message.
