Hi, I'm looking for details regarding my ancestor Martin Keane b. around 1803, married Ellen Ryan in Scotland and went off to Canada in the military at the age of 18 before immigrating to Australia in 1841.

    Griffith's Valuation has a Martin Keane from the townland of Newlawn, parish of Terryglass (the only Martin Keane from Tipperary in the list) who may be related to your Martin. My great grandmother, Mary Keane (b 1834) also came from Gortmore,Terryglass, hence my interest. Mary and her brother William immigrated to Western Australia in the 1850s, he as an Enrolled Pensioner Guard. Mary later married John McCann, one of the convicts William was sent out to guard.
