Have posted some messages before but am still looking for any descendants or relatives to John Ryan born 1798 and had a tenanted farm in Curraduff with the "widow" Mackey.   John appears to have married Julia Shanahan in 1826 and they lived in the area until at least 1838 (lst applotment record I have).    Believe his father to be James Ryan not sure about his mother possibly Mary ??   John and Julia had five children all baptised in the Templemore Church and born in Curraduff.  They left in 1841 and came to Australia.   We also believe two of his brothers may have come to Australia.   Think there still may be Ryans in Curraduff who may be related and would love to hear from them.

Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!

I will alert our parish liaison in Templemore that you have posted a message. Here is a link to the online irish phone book http://www.eirphonebook.ie/#   There are over 1100 Ryan records in this phone book. You may want to take the time to go through the records to see if there are any records in Curraduff.

Sue,  I have read your post about the Ryans in Curraduff. You and I may have a connection: My great-great gramdparents are James Ryan and Mary Burke Ryan. They married in the Drom Church in 1812; another source, the parish priest, stated that the data were exactly the same except the year was 1810. Anyway, the children of this union were John (1812), Thomas (1814), James (1816), Michael (1818), Patrick (1821), Ann (1823), and Edmund (1826). All were born in Curraduff except Edmund, who was born in Ivyhall, near Templemore, and all of the children were baptized in the Templemore church.

Thomas, the second born, is my great grandfather who emigrated to Saint Louis, Missouri USA in the early 1850's; he married Ann Fogarty in Saint Louis, MO in Oct. 1855. Ann was born in 1831 in Kilahara, Tipperary, Ireland. Her parents were Charles Fogarty and Ellen Shortall.

Tell me if any of this information is useful to you.
