Patrick Stapleton (d.1929) and Catherine Laffan Stapleton (d.1914) of Dromard, St. Ann's Church, Clonmore, were my great-grandparents. They had 11 children, including my grandmother, Ellen, six of whom came to the USA.The Stapleton headstone contains information on Patrick, Catherine, and two of their children, Edward and Anne. I am looking for any descendents of Edward and his wife Catherine. I am also looking for information on Thomas Stapleton, born 1889, and Patrick Statpleton, born 1879 - marriage, date of death, and children.  If anyone can help with this information, I would be most grateful.

I am visiting relatives in Roscrea from April 29-May 6. If there is a place of record I could visit, that would be wonderful.

Thank you.

  • Hi Mary Ellen.

I live near Clonmore and i will try to get some info on the Staletons for you.

Your Grandparents are in the National Archives Census of Ireland 1911 www.census.nationalarchives.ie free to view. Go to DeD parish of Killavinoge, Dromard Beg. You should also check The Griffiths Valuations land survey done in the 1850s. www.askaaboutireland.ie. also free to view.

Their is also a pay to view site www.rootsireland.ie for births, deaths & marriage records.

  • Hi Mary Ellen.

I checked out the Stapleton family for you in Dromard Clonmore.

I found out where the house was in Dromard and the last person living there was Tom, he was married but had no children. His brother Edward had 1 son Patrick and lived in a place locally called The Derries near  Lisduff Co Laois. He died young and had 2 children, a boy and girl. The boy was called Eddie and lives in Clonmore now. I contacted him and told him you were coming to Ireland at the end of April. He said he would be delighted to meet you. The Laffins lived next door to the home place where Tom lived.

    I have Eddies contact details.

When you get to ireland you can do more research at Nenagh Heritage center and Templemore Church records
