My ancestor is - James Tierney [1817-1883]
James' parents were Daniel Tierney [abt1785-????] & Ellen Butler [abt1785-????]
James and his brother, Daniel [1810-1878], and Daniel's wife Elizabeth[1817-1911], arrived in Australia, on the
22nd December 1840 aboard the ship "Resource" as assisted immigrants. James was unmarried.
Daniel had married Elizabeth Rachel Russell in abt 1839 in Ireland.
They gave there place of origin as Templemore, Ireland
James & Daniel had another brother, John [1814-????] who was married to Judy or Johanna Shelley in abt 1830 in Cullenagh, Tipperary, John and his wife remained in Ireland however three of their children emigrated to Australia to be with their uncles. The children were Ellen [1836-1888], Mary Theresa [1840-1920] & John [1844-1907]. These three children emigrated in 1858.

Hi Peter,
rootsireland.ie has the marriage of Daniel & Rachel - 1840 in Tipperary - Parish is Templemore R C.
It also has the record of John's marriage to JUDITH Shelley in 1832 - parish is Templemore R C.
There are 2 birth records for James Tierney born Tipperary 1817 + - 3 years - 1 in 1814 and 1 in 1820; neither has father Daniel or mother Ellen Butler.
The only birth record of Daniel Tierney + - 2 years all counties is 1786 Limerick.
On the Tithe Applotments 1823-27 (free to search) there are 2 Tierneys in Templemore - James & Patrick both in Gurtnagona Townland.
I note you have an impressive tree on ancestry so perhaps rootsireland.ie is an untried source for you. It is a pay site however.
