Hi

Bridget Ryan born 4th Oct 1887, St Michaels Street, Tipperary.  Bridget's parents were Henry Ryan & Margaret Scully.

Apart from her baptism (RC) on 5 Oct 1887 I have been unable to find  qnything further about her.

She does not appear in either the 1901 or 1911 Census but I can find her mother  and siblings in the 1901. Henry her father died 1897, Mother died 1909.

So I have been looking at death records 1897-1901 for Bridget on the LDS & IFHF sites. Neither of these sites allow for a parents details to entered to confirm info before ordering a cert.

There are 9 possibilities;

1890 3 yr, 1890  2yr, 1888 1 yr, 6m, 1yr, 8 mths. 1889 2 yr,2 yr 1887 3 mths.

As I live in New Zealand andso I am not able to visit Dublin to check the records.

So any recommendations or suggestions on  Bridget would be most welcome.

Thanks

Kevin.

  • Death certs dont specifically include parents names, although in the case of the death of a child the informant may be one of the parents. Sometimes the place of death can provide a clue to prove a connection as it can be an address know to be connected to the family. The only way to to see if any one of the possible deaths can be connected to your Bridget would be to order the certs.

    I'm just wondering about your numbers - allowing for a few years either way for her age I get 11 deaths that fit the timeline you mentioned (although one of these is late 1901), and in Tipperary registration district, which covered the town - see : Bridget Ryan b 1885-1890 d1897-1901  (FamilySearch)

    Did the family stay in Tipperary town ?

    EDIT - sorry that link doesn't seem to work properly. I think the registration district and county name being the same might be an issue for the FamilySearch page. I seem to get different results depending on the sequence I use for the searches.

  • Hi and thanks for your comments. You are correct re parents names not being on the certificates. On checking the death certificate for one of Bridget's brothers Thomas (d 1880) (7)it stated son of a baker and (9) Margaret present at death. Both details confirmed it was the correct person. However as for the 9 or 11 possible death records that would fit my search I was asking or looking for possible alternatives rather than having to purchase all of those certificates. This Ryan family lived in the TIP township from 1874 to 1911 at least.
