I'm researching an ancestor of mine who was born in a place named Greenane, County Tipperary.

I haven't been able to find anything on Greenane. What parish does it belong to?

Anything would be a great help.

  • Hi Cameron,

If you go to the free website www.askaboutireland.ie and click on the placename icon you will find a couple of possible matches there.

However I live in a town called Clonmel in Co. Tipperary and there is a townsland her by the same name so also bear that in mind in your search.

    Kind regards,

  • There is a stud farm at Grenane House in Tipperary.  It is located off the N661 about 3km north of Tipperary Town.  This estate has belonged to the same family since the 1700s when it was originally built.  We have stayed at a self catering cottage on the estate on several occasions and love the area.  Hope this helps.
