Trying to find any information on my 2 G Grandfather Hugh Mooney. He married Sarah Egan born 1841 in Offaly. They had three children born in Offaly with their eldest son named William born 1864 (perhaps Hugh's father's name?). They emigrated to Canada around 1865 and settled in the Kingston, Ontario area and had 8 more children.

I unfortunately do not have any info on his parents or siblings, not for lack of trying! Would greatly appreciate any info or help.

    Hi Karen

     

    Not knowing where Sarah Egan came from in Offaly, or where the children were born, I took it that they probably lived near the north Tipperary border - so I looked up Hugh Mooney  (born 1837)under the Records for North Tipperary that  are available through www.rootsireland.ie, which is a fee paying service. Unfortunately non turn up-

    I also looked for William Mooney born Offaly in 1864- 6 turn up, but none with Hugh mooney and Sarah Egan as parents.

  • Thank you. I have the baptism records for Hugh and Sarah's 2 oldest, Bridget and Honora. They state that the parish was Dunkerrin, Offaly. Perhaps Hugh and Sarah were married there?
