Hello,

I am trying to find my great grandfather, Thomas Casey's parents.  Tom was born about 1844 in Tipperary, Ireland. and died in Jan 5 1909 in NZ.  His mother was Mary O'Neill, her father was a doctor.  They had Nora (may be variant spelling), Frank, died in Ireland as a child and another child, then Tom Casey.  John Casey came to to NZ to fight in the NZ Land Wars.  He move over with his wife, Mary  and three children.  Mary married Mr Begg when John Casey died.  My family seem to think Heather Begg the opera singer is connected to this family tree.  Mary and Mr Begg had a daughter named Ada as well as two other children.

Any help would be much appreciated as my starting points seem to come to another brick wall.

Thanks

Atua

  • Hi Atua, I have checked a couple of things, first I tried to find a Thomas Casey born in 1844 Tipperary with a mother Mary O'Neill no results, then I tried just Thomas Casey 1844 Tipperary, only found one match the baptism of a Thomas Casey on the 7th January 1844 in Newport Tipperary, parents Thomas Casey and Catherine Cullen, this couple had no children called Nora and Frank (Francis) The only Frank Casey born in Tipperary had parents John Casey and Julia Delaney, but again no son Thomas or daughter Nora

There is  a Stephen Casey born in Rathkeale Limerick in 1840 with a mother Mary O'Neill father Stephen Casey, they had a daughter Josephine. No other children listed

. Do the sources that you have come from original records?
