My great great granduncle Bernard Murphy (from Errigal Truagh, townland Killyhoman) married Mary Mullen in Aughnacloy in 1853.  His brother, Edward Murphy emigrated to the US in 1856.   6 of their children were baptized in Aghaloo (Aughnacloy). I was hoping to find any information of the parents (or siblings) of Bernard or Mary Mullen that may also have lived in Augnacloy or just over the border in Monaghan.

  • Hi Paul

There is a record of the marriage of Bernard & Mary in Aghaloo Tyrone in 1856 on www.rootsireland.ie/

The record SHOULD have the fathers' names

You need to purchase credit to view records on rootsireland

You could search for the siblings once you get the father's name from the marriage record

  • I found the marriage document for Bernard and Mary Murphy in Aghaloo parish.  I also had a friend visit PRONI in Belfast.  The records contained very limited information and no parents were listed.   Aghaloo parish is part of Armagh archdiocese.  Would the records at Armagh contain more information than PRONI?    Also, Bernard's brother, Edward Murphy died in before 1854 in Killyhoman, Errigal Trough, Monaghan.  He may have been buried in Errigal parish or Aghaloo.  Does the county are the parishes keep death records (likely from the late 1840's or early '50s)   Thanks if anyone could help                                  Paul
