Ireland Reaching Out - www.irelandxo.comMy great grandfather, Robert Lyons, was born 15 Mar 1809 in County Tyrone (probably Killyclogher) to Robert Lyons (abt 1776-1852) and his wife Margaret Frances Black (Abt. 1787 - 1856).  There were 7 children: Mary Ann, Robert, Margaret, Jane, Matilda, Rachel, and Thomas. I would love to know more about the family.  Margaret Frances Black had a sister Mary who married Margaret's husband Robert's brother Joseph.  This Joseph & Mary had 10 children born from 1813-1836 . Many in this family immigrated to the U.S.  I know more about this family than I do Joseph's brother Robert's family who were earlier. 

In the Tithe Applotment Book, Cappagh Prish - 1827 are listed:

Lyons, Joseph, Killyclogher

Lyons, Robert, Killyclogher

The picture is of my great grandfather Robert Lyons (1809-1890) who immigrated to the U.S. and married Araminta Van Wormer (1820-1909) in Michigan.

  • I have a Thomas Lyons born before 1839 and he had a daughter who is  a great great grandmother to me....named Ellen Clugston Lyon born may 1859 and married william carson.  It is really hard to find info on any of these people.

  • Thank you for these replies.. It has given me a bit more to go on.  I need to figure out where these places are as my Great GRandfather Robert James is listed as being born in BAllyshannon.
