I am looking for any information on my gtgtgrandfather John Thompson, who was married to Mary Ann McWhirter. I have found reference to them in the County Tyrone Householders Index for 1860, which says he was a tenant on the land of a John Lindsey in Moree, Parish Desertcreat.  The areage was 11 acres 0 rods 30 perches. Thank you.

  • Hi Col, again thank you so much for that information. It is very kind of you to give your time.  I've now got another name of William McWhirter, who was a witness at the wedding. Maybe he was Mary Anne's brother? I seem to have hit a bit of a brick wall  going further back with John and Mary Anne's parents William and Mary ((Mooney) Thompson and Joseph McWhirter (no mother's name), but will keep trying! Kind regards, Carole
