We are planning a visit to N Ireland in April and are not sure where to start. We know JC Eccles grew up in Cookstown (related to the Eccleville Eccles) and married in Seagoe. Are there Historical Societies worth visiting? We are not sure where to start? Any advice would be appreciated.

Most church and public records, for what is now Northern Ireland, are in PRONI, the public record office, in Belfast. In general a personal visit is required, to access them.

Statutory birth, death & marriage certs are in GRONI, or can be accessed on-line on: https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk
There is the North of Ireland Family History society. They have a library in Newtownabbey, outside Belfast.
However if you post a little more information here, we may be able to help. We need dates, denominations and full names. So what was JC Eccles full name, what was his/her denomination? Who and when did he/she marry?
