Hello everyone i am looking for some help researching my Farley roots. I know that my Great Grand Father was Bernard Farley born 1865 and through family oral history he is supposed to come from County Tyrone. I know that he marries Agnes Morrison born 1872 from Belfast. They are married and imigrate in 1886. I know that this makes Agnes 14 was this a common practice back then? They settled in Philadelphia PA USA. Through the oral family history it is said that he has a twin brother Bartholomuew who was reported to be in California. Any help you could provide will be greatly appriciated.

The family name may have been Farrelly in Ireland. Below is the 1887 marriage index record for Bernard and Agnes Morrison. The Lisburn registration district is in Co. Down and is very close to Belfast. You can get a copy of this record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living in early 1887. Instructions are below the index record.

Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event. registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.
