Have two parish locations, in Clogher and Clogherny, which are possibly connected with the surnames in my genealogy research - Blythe, Marshall and McLellan.  Have found Blythe and Marshall in one or the other of above parishes, but nothing for McLellan.  Looking for other possible parishes to consider for one or all of the surnames mentioned.

  • No McLellan(d) households listed in Griffiths Valuation for Tyrone, or in the 1901 census. Family perhaps don?t come from Tyrone. Only just over 120 in the 1901 census in the whole of Ireland and many of them were born in England & Scotland. The rest were spread across Antrim, Londonderry, Down & Donegal.

  • Appreciate your reply!  I have not been able to find any in Tyrone either.  Kind of wondering about where they came from myself.  Only reference I have is for Anne Blythe's (Marshall) remarriage in Canada, which indicates her father is John Marshall, and her mother is Ellen McLellan.

  • Well I?d guess that the husband travelled outside of Tyrone for some reason and met his wife wherever she lived. Possibly Co Antrim or Scotland would seem the most likely choices. Neither would have been uncommon.
