Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and thanks for your query

As you probably know, the start date for parish records varies depending on the parish. Some records begin very early while others start relatively late. As you can see from the link below, Dungarvan is a Civil Parish in the south of Co. Waterford:

    http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction=TownlandsInCivil&civilparishid=2385&civilparish=Dungarvan&citycounty=Waterford

The Roman Catholic records for the parishes of Dungarvan & Abbeyside begin in 1787 and 1828 respectively. As this is the case, even though your search is early, relatively speaking, you may be lucky enough to find a marriage record for Cecilia and Gerard.

You could search www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) for information on your Walsh ancestors. You could try to locate the Walsh family on the Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837. The tithes were a payment on agricultural land and while they only name the head of the family they can prove useful.

Best of luck with your search
