Hallo everyone,

I am researching the HUNT and AULSBERRY family and have discovered that Johannah Hunt was born in Killoteran her father was James Power , but i don't know who her mother was. if anyone can help me I would be most grateful. Anything to do with the families would be brilliant. Thanks a lot.

Do you know what year Johannah was born? Civil registration started in 1864. Also, it looks like the Church of Ireland and the RC records for that area go back before 1800.

  • Hi Roger,

    Thanks for replying so quickly.

I believe Johannah was born about 1873. She married a John Hunt in about 1894

Johanna Power was a very common name in Co. Waterford in the late 1800s. There were a number of civil birth index records in the Waterford registration district which includes Killoteran parish. I found two in 1873 but there were also records for 1870, 1871, 1872 and 1875. If you plan to get a copy of the birth record, use the link below. Hit link for a birth certificate in English. A screen will come up asking for the User Name and Password, hit cancel and the form should come up. Fill out the GRO form ask for a copy and provide the info for the two index records below and tell them you want the record where the fathers name is James. A copy costs around 4 euros. You can ask them to e-mail the copy back to you.
