Plan to visit from the US in 2023.  My wife is descended from Thomas and Fannie (Larkin) Mackesy who farmed in Ballintober Townland, County Wexford during latter half of the 19th century.  Last record I found was Fannie and daughter Anne still living on farm in 1911 Census.  Looking forward to touring the area.

See fifth and six records. Looks like Fannie died December 22 1912 and her daughter Ellen died January 1 1913. Anne was the informant in both cases.

  • I just happened upon this on St. Patrick's Day of all days.

I am also descended from Thomas and Fannie (Larkin) Mackesy thru my paternal grandfather, Earl Edward Hoffman, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. His maternal grandfather is Thomas Mackesy (Junior?), born in Ireland and died in Cleveland in 1929. Fannie Larkin and Thomas Mackesy are listed as parents on his death certificate. From there I traced the Mackesys back to Ballintober.

I'm curious how your trip went and if you were able to meet any Mackesys or find gravesites.
I went to Ireland in 2007 and knew I had some Irish heritage but had no clue where they were from. This narrows it down quite a bit.
