My 4x ggrandfather left Ireland in April 1807 from Dublin bound for Philadelphia. He maintained his entire life that he was from Newtwonbarry, County Wexford. He was protestant and I beleive he left due to the rebellion of 1798. There is evidence of a Ralph killed in Wexford during the rebellion leaving a wife and orphans.

Samuel Ralph, Ferns
Ralph, Mary, her husband killed, 28th May, at Enniscorthy. 7 children left, of
Ferns.
Looking for possible links for baptisms, family records, et al. From living Ralphs in the area. Samuel Ralph was born 1792. He was a watchmaker by trade and had apprenticed. He was fairly well educated, could read and write well and had served as a teacher. May have come from a middle-class family. Arrived to the U.S with a male and female adult. They were only listed as Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Master Ralph, Jr. in cabin aboard the Sally. Birth years listed as 1764 for male and 1767 for female.

My husband's Great Grandfather Joseph Henry Ralph was born in 1844 at Newtownbarry, Wexford, Ireland. As far as we know his Father was William and his Mother was Catherine. He joined the military and fought in the New Zealand Moari wars and was sent to Sydney, Australia for rest before being shipped back to Ireland. He met a young woman (Annie Moran, the daughter of a convict) and didn't ever go back. They married and had a family. We would love to know more about his family and if they left Ireland also. I am pretty sure I have found his oldest Brother John born 1830 at Newtownbarry (Bunclody), Wexford, Ireland and went to Ontario, Canada. Still researching him.
