James GODKIN was born in 1806 in the parish of Gorey. He married Sarah LAWRENCE from Co Wicklow. Their children were: Anthony Lawrence, Sarah Georgina, Edwin Lawrence, Katherine and Maria. James was a Congregational minister and later a newspapwer editor.
Anthony migrated to Australia, Edwin to USA and the three daughters went to Italy.
