  • Kathy:

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The RC parish for Killiane civil parish would be Piercetown. Baptismal records for Piercetown start in December 1811. However, I've looked at the register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0603  and the pages for the beginning part of the register through 1813 are very faint and unreadable. So even if John was baptized in that period in Piercetown, it is unlikely you will be able to decipher the record.

There is a also a civil parish called Killann but the RC records for that area (Rathnure) start in 1846.

  • Thanks for the info. As I said I was having trouble with rreading the inscription but found this info today.

So it would seem  my guess ( Killane)  may be off on the "Native of .. " as they are reading it is perhaps Killamire

Some things get lost in translation and time.

    Thanks Kathy
