I am searching for information about my great grandmother's family. She was born in Carriggower in in 1834, the daughter of James Donohue and Rachel nee Doolan. Her baptism is is listed in the register of the Roman Catholic parish of Kilquade, Co Wicklow.

Her siblings were

Thomas 1824, baptised Parish of Glendalough. Married Anna Brien/Breen in Bray 1851. Children Patrick 1853 and Maria 1857(who married Patrick McDonald in 1874, son Patrick born 1875.

Elizabeth 1828, baptised Parish of Kilquade

Bridget 1831, Baptised Parish of Kilquade

Steven 1837, baptised Parish of Kilquade married Catherine Caulfield in Bray 1863. Children Rachel 1874, Maria 1867 and Elizabeth 1872

James 1844.baptised Parish of Kilquade

Jean/Joan married James Kavanagh in Bray 1868. Children Ann Margaret 1869 and Mary 1873.

I have seen an inscription in prayer book sent to Mary by her niece Mary Doyle in 1889. However I do not know if this is the child of one of her sisters or the married name of the daughter of one of her brothers.

The Tithe Applotment Survey records James as paying tax on 7 acres of land in the townland of Carriggower.

The Griffiths Valuation has the family living at the townland of Carrigower leasing land from Laurence Graydon, a block of 6 acres and a block of 12 acres.

The old manuscripts and ledgers are very diffacult to read . . . age has taken its toll . . however they may be of help to you as you continue your search  . . .
