Looking for information about the Lambert family from Cappagh/Rathdrum.

Back in the early 1700s, there was a Lambert family that had branches in Bray, Kilcroney, Delgany and Rathdrum. This family was married into the Hepenstall and Adair families and can be traced through property and COI church records. Richard Lambert died in 1777 in Rathdrum and his wife Dorcas died sometime before that (buried in Kilcroney). Richard and Dorcas likely had at least five children – James, John, Martha, Mary and Edward. This Richard (or a close relative) may have also been married to a woman named Eleanor Fisher, who died in 1793. Property records from mid-18 century all list Richard, James and Edward as renting property in the area, sometimes in tandem with John Hepenstall. A generation later, James Lambert is married (COI) to Alice and has at least nine children in Rathdrum, including William Lambert (born 1760).

By the 1790s there are Lamberts living in Cappagh. RC records show a John Lambert married to Mary Lacy and an Edward Lambert married to Bridget Whelan. A generation later, in1832, Edward, Michael and James are all living in Cappagh. James Lambert and Catherine Whelan, living in Cappagh, have at least six children. They both died in 1838 (cholera?) and are buried in the upper Macreddin cemetery. There are other Lamberts living over towards Moyne and Hacketstown, including William Lambert, who died in 1831 (age72).

Does anybody know if there is a connection between these two Lambert families? Would it make sense that the earlier Lambert family listed in COI (and other) records would also be listed later in RC (and other) records in Cappagh and its environs? Or, is it pretty obvious that there are really two Lambert family lines?

I would love to hear if there is any local knowledge or memory of this family.
