I am seeking information regarding the Brosnan family of Banoge, Anascaul, County Kerry. My great-grandfather, Michael Brosnan, was born 14 August 1860 to Timothy Brosnan and Mary Shea (married Dingle, 19 February 1850).
Michael's siblings may have been James (1856), John (1858) and Patrick (1863) all born Banoge. There may also be a connection by marriage to the Garvey family in the same area--possibly Timothy's sister.
Micheal and John Garvey, whom I believe is a cousin, immigrated to the USA possibly 1878-1880. Micheal and John died of typhoid in Newmarket, NH, USA in 1886 and are buried in a single gravesite in Calvary Cemetery in Newmarket. Their passing left my then six-month old grandmother, Mary, and her mother, Katherine Galvin Brosnan, alone. Katherine Galvin Brosnan died in 1898 leaving my grandmother an orphan at 12.
Any information regarding the Brosnan (various spellings depending on what record: Breshnahan, Bushnehan). I have not been able to locate immigration info for any of these individuals.
Thanks for any informaiton.

Hi there,
Thank you very much for your query to Ireland Reaching Out. Have you checked the marriage record for Timothy Brosnan and Mary Shea? Check the General Register Office (GRO) for this record if you have not done so already. This might give you additional information about the couple.
Try checking local newspapers or cemetery registers for information about the deaths (death notices etc.) for Michael and John Garvey.
Best of luck in your research.
Kind regards,

Thank you--I have Michael and John's death records in New Hampshire, USA and have been to their gravesite. Sadly, my grandmother was only 6 months old when her father died and by 13 was orphaned as her mother also died. The cemetery register is very brief--apparently the gravesite was either donated or purchased by folks long dead.
I appreciate your suggestions and will pursue the GRO suggestion.

Hi Cheryl,
I may be a long lost cousin of yours as your Great Grandfather Michael Brosnan would have been a Brother of my Great Grandfather Martin Brosnan. I have been tracing my family tree for the past few years and I may have some additional information for you. I sent a copy of a report from my Database to your old email address which you posted in 2003 looking for this information.

Brendan--
To my knowledge (and I save mostly everything genealogy related), I didn't get your database info. I will send you a reply with my present email address. I've had several providers since 2003 due to moving around.
I'd love to find Brosnan cousins...

Looks like I'm unable to access a direct email for you.
Mine is: doran-girard@sbcglobal.net
Hope you will send the 2003 info on again. I have a picture of Michael, if you are interested.
Thanks for your assistance.
