I have been researching my family tree on ancestry and haave come across a bit of a road block. I have traced back to my dads grandfather and grandmother, i have found out that my great grandfather John Martin was born in 1877 in Malahide in Dublin and his wife Agnes was born in Gort, County Clare. i have not been able to find her maiden name. Also it appears that my grandfather had a sister called Katie Martin i assume she was born in Malahide also around 1873. I have got names for John and Katie's Parents whether they are the right names i am unsure..i have Catherine Martin as their mother born around 1832 i beleive her maiden name was Lynch, and their father Charles Martin. I know my dad has no direct aunts and uncles however i would be very interested to find out if Katie is my dads great aunt if so did she have children and do i have relatives in ireland i do not know about.
Thank you for your time.
Claire Martin.

Dear Claire
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in replying to your message.
As you can see from the link below, Maladine is a Civil Parish in Co. Dublin:
The records for the Roman Catholic Parish of Malahide begin in 1763.
There are some places where you can search online, however these websites do not have complete collections and many do not cover the period after 1900. You could use these sites to search for a marriage record for Agnes and find her maiden name there. If she was from Gort, she probably married there. Gort is in the Civil Parish of Kiltartan. Roman Catholic records begin there in 1848.
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ have begun a project to upload Irish church records to their site free of charge. However so far only Counties Dublin, Kerry, Carlow and parts of Cork have been covered.
Some other websites that may be helpful are:
