My father's birth certificate says that his father (my grandfather) was born in or around Kenagh, Co Longford, Ireland.  I haven't been able to figure out which parrish this is.  This is my current goal.  Any help in deciphering which parrish this is would be appreciated. 

My grandfather was born about 1848, and emigrated to Boston in 1863.  His name was Robert McCormick.  His father's name was James McCormick, and his mother was Margaret Walker.  Any help or direction that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

  • I'd say that's probably a reference to the town of Keenagh, which is located abt 8km (c 5 miles) to the north west of Ballymahon. Keenagh is in the civil parish of Kilcommock, and the corresponding Catholic parish is usually listed as  Kilcommogue or Kilcomoge.

    in the Griffith's valuation records I found 14 "James McCormick" as you can see at this link:
