    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked Roots Ireland and did not find any baptismal records for the Stinson family. When did they emigrate to Canada? I assume they were either C of I or Presbyterian.

I looked at the 1856 Griffiths Valuation for Co. Cavan and there were six Stinson records and five of the six records were in Kildrumsherdan civil parish so there is a good likelihood that your ancestors were from that parish.

There were no Stinsons in Co. Cavan in the 1911 census so they either died out and/or emigrated.

  • Thanks Roger, Not sure when they emigrated that is one of the things i wanted to find out. Should i repost in the Kildrumsherdan Parish or is it seen there as well when I join that parish?

  • Shaun:

I would not repost in Kildrumsherdan but simply join the parish as a member. All posts whether they are at the parish, county, or general Ireland level, end up on the main message board.

Did you search Stinson on the search feature at the top of the message board? You will get seven or eight messages where people have Stinson connections. You might see something of interest.

  • Hi Shaun,

I am not sure this is the same lineage as there are a lot of William Stinson's apparently.

What I have is a William Stinson born May 5th 1822 in Drung, Cavan married to a Mary Anne Jackson.

His father was also a William Stinson I believe. Born 1795 in  Cavan and married to a Margaret Hopkins

    born 1800 in Ireland.

I am not too sure that is of any assistance or not .
