joseph Wall b. 1805 married Ann Long b. C1802, in Feb 1829/30.  Their children were Eliza b. C1831, Margaret b. C1832, Moses b. C1835, and Matilda b. C1835.  Do you have records for their births?  First 2 died in Ireland, records?

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The RC church corresponding to Modreeny civil parish is Cloughjordan. Baptismal records for that parish start in August 1833. The link to the register is below. Possibly you can find the later siblings. Death records were rarely kept by churches. Civil registration of deaths started in 1864.

  • Hi, Marjorie,

I just joined this website and saw your message. Your grandfather Joseph is the brother of my great grandfather Moses who was born in 1806. He emigrated to Canada in 1836 along with another brother John, who was born in 1812. There were four brothers, including your grandfather, and their father's name was Joesph. I wish I had the mother's name. Moses was married to Ellen Greene who was born in 1810. Her parents were William Greene and Catherine Carey. John married Ellen Dagg in 1833.

They first settled in what is now Ottawa. Some of the Walls continued moving West in the ensuing generations in search of more farming land. I would love to know if your grandfather stayed in Ireland and had his family there. I will be visiting Ireland this year and intend to visit this county and parish.

    Thank you!
