Hello All - I am searching in Effin also. My great grandmother was born there in 1847. Her name was Maria Carroll and her parents were John Carroll and Johanna Hartigan. See my post "MY EFFIN, LIMERICK FAMILIES OF THE PAST" for more information. This post is on the Effin page. I was looking for other children born to these same parents. I found 5 other children. One of them was a James Carroll born April 19, 1864 and his sponsors were John Callaghan and Honora Carroll. Would these be the same people that you are researching? Bunny

I asked our HQ to followup with our Effin parish liaison. I also checked Roots Ireland and found the following siblings to Maria Kate 1849 Michael 1852 (likely died young) Joanna 1853 Michael 1858 James 1864 I assume these names match your research. John Callaghan and Hanora Carroll were my 3 times great grandparents and I have returned to investigating them after several years on other branches. I recently found in Griffith's Valuation that they sublet land in Effin from another James Carroll. I assume James is either Hanora's father or brother, but I do not know for sure.
