I am seeking insight about the origins of the Peacockes who had Maam Cross hotel for 100+ years.  Peacockes certainly plentiful in Limerick in Victorian times. The hotel was part of the Martin Ballynahinch estate, dissolved.

  • Hi, not sur e what years we are talking about but here on a surname distribution list there is one family only in Galway, you can search free but subscription site, https://www.johngrenham.com/surnames/

If they are there then you can check land ownership records but that requires a visit to the valuation office, a search of old newspaper archives would probablly show the sale and advertising of the premises.

Also you should try the private genealogy Facebook pages for Galway, there are a some, also Galway History.

Have you checked the 1901 and 1911 Irish census free online for who was there. Also the civil reocrds are free online, Protestant marriages from 1845 and all BMDs from 1864, click on civil, church records are limited to 3 counties only. See https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

    Good Luck
