I'm looking for anyone related to Edward Roche, a bootmaker on Patrick Street in Cork from about 1813 to his death in 1847.  he married Eliza Creed and their children were Robert, Aaron Lewis, Edward, Lewis Minchin, John and Eliza.  I am descended from John who took over his father's shop at 94 Patrick Street.  His wife Mary Anne (Scully) and his kids went to Boston in 1870 but I John didn't make it, I don't know what happened to him.  Robert married Ellen Coughlan and had a Robert Jr., Maria Teresa and Edward.  Lewis Minchin and his brother Edward had Roche Brothers, iron/hardware store, at 49 Patrick Street until it went bankrupt in 1871.  Robert, Lewis, Eliza and Edward all stayed in Cork, and Aaron Lewis was a priest in Abington Massachusetts.

  • Osekat,

Have you looked at the civil records at www.irishgenealogy.ie? There are many records for Johns Roche in Cork. Perhaps marriage or death records exists for him.

John Roche, miller, widower, 1880 age 54, 2 Sullivan's Quay?, wit. by Francis ROche of Gill Abby St.

John Roche, labor master, Cork workhouse, married, 1879 age 38, wit. by Anne Roche of Quarry Rd.

John Roche, tailor, married, 1886 age 44, Brogue Market, wit. by Minnie Roche daughter of Blarney St.

John Roche, age 50 1889, etc.

These are just a few examples. You can also check the Will Calendars at the www.nationalarchives.ie and you may get lucky.
