Looking for the baptism of Edward DONEGAN born abt 1816 in the Cork City area. He came to London proir to 1841 and married in 1841. On the marriage certificate it states his name as Edward DUNAGIN and his father as Daniel DUNAGIN, both labourers.. Would like to find any siblings of Edward and then on to the marriage of Daniel DONEGAN.  Edward's age on the English 1841 census states he was 25 years old. Thanks...

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The free site www.irishgenealogy.ie has RC church records for Cork city (under Church Record TAB). I did not find an Edward Donegan baptismal record with father Daniel around 1816.

I did locate an 1812 marriage record for a Daniel Donegan and Ellen Regan in the Cork South parish. See below. There are a number of baptismal records for their children but no Edward.  Michael 1813  John 1818 (likely died young) Honora 1819 Mary 1821 Patrick 1825 John 1827 There is a five year gap between Michael and the first John so possibly Edward was between them and the record was not transcribed?? Here is a link to the parish register

  • Hi Roger,

Thanks for putting that information up. I have been on the Irishgenealogy site before and like you noticed that there was a gap where a Daniel could fit and it looked very promising for me.  Although I did'nt have Michael until you replied, I must have missed him, but I did have the marriage. So as it stands this is the nearest I can get at the moment. Other records may appear in time. I'll try the NLI site. Thanks for your time and interest.

    Dave.

  • Hi there, I would like to make contact with any living descendants of Daniel Donegan who married Ellen Regan in 1812 at St.Finbarrs, Sth Parish. Living in Evergreen (St/Rd) at time of marriage. Both born in Cork City. R.C.

There were children, Michael b.1813, Edward b.abt 1816 (could not find baptism), John b.1818, Honora b.1819, Mary b.1821, Patrick b.1825, John b.1827, Patrick b.1831. All baptised at St.Finbarrs, Sth Parish.

Hoping to make contact with descendants of the above children so I can add names and make the family tree bigger. The Donegan or Regan name is prefered but I will use any names that may be given to me.

I'm also interested in Ellen Regan's family. Ellen was baptised 1788 at St.Mary's Priory Catholic Church, Cork City. Her parents were Daniel Regan and Abigale Higgins. I don' thave a marriage or any siblings of Daniel or Abigale.

Any information received will be grately appreciated. Thanks.

    Dave.
