Hello, I'm searching for information regarding my ancestors.  There was a James Ryan (born April 1868) who married a Mary Ann Curtin (born 8 may 1869).  I Believe Mary Ann parents were Peter Curtin and Margaret scanlow.  I was hoping to find  more information about my roots in Ireland.

  • Dear Greg:  Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and thanks for your query to our message board.  I have found the following record which appears to match your Mary Anne.  This record is from a transcription site which charges called Roots Ireland.

    It lists the following information:

Mary Anne Curtin baptised 12 May 1869 in Grange, Ballina, County Tipperary.  Her parents were:  Denis Curtin and Anne Malone.  Sponsors were Michael Vaughan and Bridget Vaughan.

Mary Anne also had a brother named Peter who was baptised 7 January 1863 in Grange, Ballina.  His parents were the same as Mary Anne’s and sponsors were:  John Malone and Mary Curtin.

I was unable to find a marriage record (church) for them in Ballina, however you may be able to find one through the Civll records which are free to search on the website Irish genealogy.  The link is below:

http://Www.irishgenealogy.ie  You might consider creating a profile for Mary Anne and James for the XO Chronicles.  This may assist with your research as other members will be reading the profiles and may be able to further your research.

The link to create is at the top of the page marked “XO Chronicles”

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

    All the best,

    Jane
