Many years back, my aunt visited Ireland and came back with copies of paintings that had been done of John Ussher  (b 1771) and John Ussher (b 1806) at Eastwell. Of course, she did not note the source of the images.

I have attempted to search online databases, but I understand that those types of things are expensive to maintain, so have had no luck.

Any notions of where would be a good place to inquire? Galway archives? A historical society?

  • Dear Andrea:

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out website and welcome.

You may have better luck with some of the local historical society in the Loughrea area.  Here is a link:

    http://seghas.com/

SEGHAS puts on a number of events, conferences and they also publish a journal.  If you write to them, they should be able to direct your query.

    The best of luck!

    Kind regards,

    Jane.
