I am trying to find my ggg grandmother, Mary Common/Cummins/Cummings who taught school with her husband Timothy Forde in New Birmingham/Glengoole 1840s-1867 or so. Mary and Timothy also had five children in NB/Glengoole 1834-1849 with their first child born in Cappawhite, Tipperary in 1830 where Timothy taught. Mary Common/Cummin might have been born 1808-13.

I have looked in parish records surrounding Cappawhite (and Boherlahan) & paid Tipperary Research to find her - also their marriage record to no avail.

I was told by a retired teacher friend in Glengoole that often teachers married teachers and they kept that occupation through generations. Timothy and Mary's children all either taught or were School Monitors 1848-1876 NB). [Bridget; Maria; Catherine/Dorothy; Anne (later Meagher from Graine); Michael and my ancestor, Ellen.]

My friend also said there was a Cummins family in the Moycarkey/Holy Cross/Thurles area who were long time teachers there up until perhaps 20 years ago when they moved out of the area.

I believe my Mary was from this family of teachers so close to NB/Glengoole. Unfortunately the records are non-existant or in bad condition for the time period 1805-1830. I may have missed them but Tipperary Research gave me no hope of finding records.

My last hope in finding them would be to connect with descendants of the Cummins family from the Moycarkey/Holy Cross/Thurles area or to search newspapers. Does anyone know about this family? Any newspaper articles about them?

Thanks so much - got to try all my leads/possibilities in lieu of records!
