Born in Newton Hamilton. Origin was Scotland but not sure when her family came to Ireland. Her father may have been William Lowry, referred to as "the honourable William Lowry." Agnes married Isaac Copeland about 1802 in Newry, Down, Ireland. Isaac was born in Newry, Down, Ireland circa 1777. They had the following children...all born in County Armagh, Ireland. Mary (1802-1888), Eliza (1804 - ?), Nancy AGNES (1809-1897), John (1810-1897), Margaret A. (1814-1889), Susan Maria (1818-1895), William Lowry (1820-1887), Robert Emmet (1822-1907) Isaac Copeland set out to find land in Ontario, Canada and vanished in 1824. Their daughter Margaret married Arthur Gray and stayed in Lewiston, New York. The rest of the children came to St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

Agnes and Isaac left Ireland on May 16, 1823 from Portsmouth, on board the ship "Trafalgar." I have not been able to find any info on this ship. They landed in Quebec in July 1823. They emigrated with all their children except for their eldest daughter who was married to Samuel Cochrane. He died in 1847 in County Armagh and in 1848, his wife, Mary then left for North America with her 11 children.
