Honor(a) Annie Raftery, my Grandmother, was born in 1887. Her parents were Michael Raftery and Margaret Burke (m. 1876) of Townland Belmont (Belmount), Civil Parish Liskeevy (later Milltown), Tuam, Galway. Her mother died in 1888.
Honora had four (?) siblings and eight (?) step siblings. Her step-mother was Mary Connelly (?). The family is listed in the Census 1901 residing in Belmont.
Honora emigrated to New York in 1905(?) on the ship, Majestic.
She met and married Patrick Joseph Leonard (b. 1888) from Clooneenbaun (Rockfield), Roscommon. Honora and Patrick had five children: Anne Marie, Thomas, Margaret, Catherine (my mother) and Joan.
Honora died on July 2, 1970 in Clifton, NJ.
