Elizabeth Lally was born on Nov 19, 1889 a daughter of Martin & Bridget (Mooney) Lally in Galway, Ireland.

Elizabeth sailed aboard the Baltic from Queenstown,Ireland to Boston, MA in 1905. She arrived on Ellis Island, NY on Feb.24, 1905. Her occupation was listed as "servant". She was 15 years old. The Ship manifest lists a nephew-no name listed- as arriving with her. Her sponsor was one of her sisters however the record is difficult to read her name. She cotinued working in NY as a servant. As each sister came to the United States they worked & sent money home for another sister to come over. However a few & their only brother, Martin chose to remain in Ireland. She met and married John Yorke 1890-1934  who had immigrated from County Cavan, Ireland in Dec. 30, 1908. He worked as a chauffer. They married in New York on Feb.11,1914. They settled in New Rochelle, NY & had three children: Marguarite (Marge) 1916-1996 who married Charles Schneider 1915-1992, ---4 children, John (Jack)  Yorke 1918-1962 who married Evelyn Landgrebe 1921-1985 --9 children and Elizabeth Gloria 1925-1955 who married and had 3 children.  Never one to be idle, Elizabeth worked into her 70's, her last job working at the Rectory at her Church in Beacon, NY. She died in Rhinebeck, NY on Sep 26, 1980. She is buried in Moosup, CT with her son Jack.
