Dear Elwyn,

Thanks a million for the fantastic information you sent me pertaining to James Gilmore.  I will definitely visit the train station where he worked and St Bride Street where he and his family lived when I am in Carrickfergus in August.   I also hope to visit Randalstown and Tannaghmore when I am there to walk where my ancestors lived and walked.

Sadly, James' son, William (born March 25, 1864), died in the US in 1867.

Best wishes,

Maura

  • Hi, Elwyn   It would be great to meet you.  Ben (my husband) and I will likely be in your area on August 29 or 30.  I will get back to you to confirm the date.  Where in Randalstown can we meet you?  FYI, I will probably not have access to a computer from from May 24 until June 17.  So, if you reply and don't hear back from you you'll know why.  With thanks and best wishes,  Maura

    Maura,

We can meet somewhere obvious like outside O'Kane's pub in the Main St. Once you have decided the date and a rough time, let me know and I'll sort the details.

  • Hello, Elywn   Let's plan to meet on Tuesday, August 29 in the afternoon/evening at a place you suggest in Randalstown.  Once determined, I will let you know where we will be staying in the Carrickfergus area so that you will know where to contact me, if necessary.  I assume there are guesthouses in that area but I need to look into it.  Best wishes,  Maura

    Maura,

That's fine. Let me know when you will be arriving in Randalstown and I'll be outside O'Kane's (inside if it's raining).

  • Elwyn, I am working on the lodging matter.  I now think we will likely stay in Carrickfergus which appears to have more options than Randalstown.  I may need to suggest that we meet on August 30 instead of the 29th.  Would this work for you?  I'll be back in touch soon on this.  Thanks.  Maura

  • Maura,

That’s fine. That’s in my diary.  I’ll see you at O’Kanes at 3.00pm.

Shortly after you pass O’Kane’s (which is on the left hand side if coming from the Carrickfergus direction) there is a small lane down the side of the building. That leads to a public car park where you can park free.

Any problems, my cell phone is 07976 140146.

  • Hello, Elwyn   Thanks.  We'll see you at O'Kane's at 3 pm on August 30.  We leave the US on August 23.  We won't have a computer or cell phone that works in Northern Ireland with us.  So, if you need to reach me, please contact Mrs. Betty Barron at 28-9336-3304 or enquiries@beeechgrovebandb.co.uk and leave a message.  Thanks!   Maura

  • Hello Elwyn,

I came across you Moneyglass Graveyard post the other day and printed the chain out. I can't find it now that I'm relooking. I would like to correspond with you regarding the Keyland (Keeland) family that you appear to have knowledge about. I am a Curran relative of one who married into that family and I'm researching some information. Would you be kind enough to email directly with your email address so I can send you a long and detailed email regarding my family and my questions. I would appreciate any assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Michael
