When I searched for Margaret Carrig's birth ( circa 1830). . on 'Roots ireland' I found nothing.

    On Ancestry . . a Margaret Carrig was Baptised on May.10th. . in Limerick . . ( geographically possible) . . as follows

    Name   :Margaret Carrig     Baptism Age:0     Event Type:     Baptism/Birth Date:1830     Baptism Date:10 May 1830Baptism Place:St Mary's, Limerick City, Limerick, Ireland    Parish Variants:St. Mary's, Limerick    Diocese:LimerickFather:Jno Carrig     Mother:Cathe Scott . . .

    So . . when I search for John Quinn ( born Tipperary) ( circa 1820 +/- 10) . . . on Roots . .

  • Dear Btracy:

Welcome to IReland Reaching Out and thanks for your post to the message board.

I am the volunteer that Eamonn mentioned.

A great place for you to start your research would be through the online sources that are available at the Clare Library.  The link for them is below:

    http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm

As you will see, there are a number of different sources available to you and it is worth taking your time and going through them bit by bit.

The Clondegad registers were voluntarily transcribed and are on this site under the Births/Baptisms tab at the right.  I have had a quick look at them for you.

In addition, the Griffith's Valuation notes a Catherine Carrig who lived at Cloonmore in Clondegad in 1855.  You can view this using the links on the site.

Unfortunately, the registers only go back to 1846, so you will not get a baptism record for Margaret.  However, you might look at other marriages for Carrigs as one of her siblings may be noted as having married in the parish.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

    Kind regards,

    Jane Halloran Ryan
