Andrew Carroll

Migrated to/Born in USA

Andrew Carroll was (according to my family's tradition) born in May 31th,1817 and baptised at St Canice's cathedral, County Kilkenny. Yet, my first view of the register at St Canice did not reveal the mention of Andrew's baptism.

Andrew left Ireland for the United States and made a home in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. Andrew mined coal.

He married Catherine Burke in Pennsylvania ( I have no date or place of marriage).

Andrew passed away after 1890 and Catherine deceased in Chicago, Illinois on the 3rd April, 1903.

I have found neither a tombstone nor any mention of Andrew's date of death in records.

I thank you for contacting me if you have seen this family in your genealogy, or you descend from Carrolls in/around Kikenny city.

  • My 2nd great grandmother, Hanora Carroll, born 27 May 1821, is the daughter of Patrick Carroll and Bridget Maher.  Hanora married Martin McDonnell of Ireland and they emigrated to Quebec, Canada about 1845.

Does any of this information align with any of your Carroll ancestors?

  • Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I haven't advanced at all with my Carroll genealogy, so I'm unable to say if I'm related to your Carroll ancestors.
The date and place of birth of my ancestor, Andrew Carroll, were never found.
I've since, taken off Andrew Carroll"s presumed birth information from my pedigree.

Wishing you the best of luck. Perhaps you can try again to repost your family info in other county forums, just in case you may get other information .

    Sincerely,

    Barbara Carroll
