Edward McInroy 1798

Back to List

Edward was a stone mason. In 1827, Edward and his wife Ann Little left their infant son Hugh Edward with Edward's parents to travel to Ontario, Canada, where Edward helped build the Rideau Canal.

By 1834, Edward and Ann had moved to New York City. Family lore has it that as Edward earned enough money, he would bring additional family members to join them there.

By 1840, the couple had settled in Charleston Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, USA. Where six of their 10 children would survived to adulthood (including Hugh Edward who emigrated with his grandparents when Hugh was about 10 years old).

Ann died in 1868.

Edward remarried that year at the age of 70 to the 22-year-old Mary Anna Hall of Brooklyn. With Mary Anna, Edward went on to father six more children.

He died in 1899 at the age of 100. It is said that he had all of his teeth and hair at the time of his death.
